I’m Finn Lloyd…
Back in 2010, a friend came to visit with the idea we pull out my parent’s camera and make a little ‘parkour’ video. It is absolutely awful and I would never share it today, but it truely sparked a love for creating video. 15 years later, at the age of 25 I’ve created hundreds of commercial videos, nearly 300 YouTube videos, captured many music videos and live performances and worked as a cinematographer on a feature film.
It was not until I attended the NZ film school in 2019 that I truely unlocked my creativity in this industry. Being surrounded by such supportive, open minded film-makers allowed me to fumble through the first narrative projects and scripts. I now spend a lot of my time writing and planning for future projects, with the ultimate goal of directing my own film one day (cliche I know…)
Music is a passion that threads its way through every project I embark on. Whether that is filming other people on stage, or creating my own with friends. I always pride myself on selecting the perfect music to match any video and I obsess about audio recording; sometimes more than the filming itself.
Stylistically I’m inspired by older film-makers. The first movie I fell in love with was actually ‘Fully Flared,’ a skateboarding film directed by Spike Jonze before he entered the world of narrative film. I adore films with quirky characters, a bit of humour and ones that move slow enough to settle into the fictional world. These are some of my absolute favourites…
No matter the project, my desire to do things different and better than I’ve ever done them before is truely insatiable. Visit the contact page, get in touch and lets make something.
